As promised, here is a statement from Brian Smith of the former "Smith & Barber Morning Show."
So many people have been wondering about what really happened last week, that I have to get my head out of my shock, anger and funk to say something to you guys. After reading what has been posted here since Thursday, I'm glad that a lot of you were able to see through some of the "spin" and figure out what's really going on.
I never quit. I've never even thought about quitting. I was brought into a meeting where I thought I was going to be congratulated for my part in bringing top ratings to WPLR's Morning Show in our latest rating period. Instead, I was told the Morning Show had been canceled. I was completely blindsided. Simple as that. Any other explanation or excuse, no matter who or where it comes from, is not true.
We've all had a lot of fun together (except for those two hookers from Chicago with the boat oar and the jar of Hellman's). Thank you for being there for the Morning Show as well as for me, and thanks for taking the time to write your good-byes and your words of support. I'll see you soon. (I just made up the part about the two hookers from Chicago. They were from East Haven.)
Thank you, Agnew the Wonder Dog.
